Utility Scam Reaches Western Kentucky

State Police are warning residents of a scam making the rounds in the area. State Police say an unknown person called a local business claiming to be from Kentucky Utilities and stated the power would be shut off if the business did not make an immediate payment over the phone.

Police say if you receive a call like this, do not give the caller any information or payment over the phone and do not call the number they provide you. Instead, Troopers advise business owners, or local residents, to contact your power company and speak with them about your account.
