Woman Charged With Stealing Half Million From Church

A Clarksville woman is facing embezzlement charges after allegedly stealing nearly half a million dollars from a church where she worked as a bookkeeper. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says they've been investigating Connie Parker since last August when police were contacted by First Presbyterian Church, in Clarksville.

TBI alleges Parker stole $498,000 from the church over the past six years and manipulated accounting reports to cover up the theft. Parker was arrested Tuesday and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $50,000 bond. A civil suit filed by the church last August says Parker had access to a church credit card and used it for personal items ranging from vacations and furniture to massages and spa treatments. She allegedly also paid bills for herself and others and paid herself extra wages.
