Host Families Needed In Trigg For Exchange Students

If you've ever considered hosting a foreign exchange student, now's a great time. Melanie Proffitt Dragoo is an international exchange coordinator for EF High School Exchange Year. She says this is an especially good time for Trigg County families to consider hosting a student for next fall.

She's found a student from Norway who would be a good fit for the Trigg County area.

Although host families are responsible for their exchange student's room, board and transportation, the students are responsible for extras.

EF High School Exchange Year coordinates with 13 countries in Asia and Europe. Students are thoroughly screened by the program. That includes matching students and their hosts.

She says there are many reasons families choose to host exchange students, but the benefits can spread to entire communities.

Dragoo says the students are coming for the American experience.

She says it's really about the little things that American families often take for granted.
