Catlett Murder Case Awaiting Ruling on Identification of Suspect

A Christian Circuit Judge will decide if the sole identification of a murder suspect will be allowed as part of the trial. Defense Attorney, Brandi Jones filed a motion to suppress a statement identifying Julius Catlett Jr., as the man who fatally shot Shaun Smith in September 2016.

In response to the motion, Commonwealth's Attorney Lynn Pryor says the use of the photo lineup shown to Myesha Hill should not exclude her identification of Catlett as the shooter, even though it was not the same one used with others. She asked Judge Andrew Self to deny the motion to suppress. Judge Self agreed to take the matter under advisement and rule on it by December 31st.

A pretrial conference was set for January 3rd at 1:00pm. The murder trial is set for the week of February 12th.
