Alexander Wins Second Term As Judge Executive

Hollis Alexander will serve a second full term as Trigg County judge-executive after holding off challenges from Democrat Ricky Dale Calhoun and write-in candidate John Oliver.

Alexander carried all 14 precincts with a total of 3,545 votes. Calhoun received 1,143 votes, and Oliver garnered 1,004 write-in votes — the most ever in a contested Trigg County political race.

Alexander says the hospital issue added some concern this year.

Alexander was appointed Judge Executive in 2014 and was elected to his first full term later that year. Both Calhoun and Oliver ran on a tax-reform platform with Oliver announcing his write-in candidacy shortly after Trigg Fiscal Court passed a controversial ambulance tax to help finance the struggling Trigg County Hospital.
