Two Facing Charges After Leaving Children At Home Alone

Two Cadiz residents are facing criminal abuse charges after leaving their children at home alone Friday evening.

Cadiz Police report they responded to a welfare check at a home on Jefferson Street where children had allegedly been left at home alone. When officers arrived, they found five children aged from one to eleven who had been left home for nearly an hour. Officers allegedly observed the one-year-old child in the bathroom with the bathtub water running as the children were trying to clean feces off of it. The children reported their dad was at work, and their mother had gone to pick him up. DCBS was called in while officers waited for the arrival of the parents.

34-year old Tonya Loafman and 36-year old Matthew Busby were both arrested on five charges of 1st-degree criminal abuse of children 12 or under. Loafman was also charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place after she stated she had been drinking prior to going to pick Busby up from work.
