Trigg Teachers To Take Part In Poverty Simulation

Teachers at Trigg County Primary and Middle Schools will be the first to take part in a poverty simulation next week.

Director of Personnel and Student Services James Mangels tells the News Edge all teachers in those schools will be involved in the first session on Tuesday.

Mangels adds they will experience real-world situations that numerous poverty-stricken families deal with on a daily basis.

Trigg County Public Schools will be closed Monday, February 18 in honor of President’s Day and will be closed on Tuesday for the teacher Growth Day.Mangles says they have a snow day they will have to make up.

The school expects to have the NTI day approved by the Kentucky Department of Education, so they will not have to make up the day missed in January.According to Mangels, they will have to make up the day missed in November. Classes will be in session on Thursday, March 7, a day previously scheduled to be a makeup day.

The last day for Trigg County Public School students is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, if there are no additional snow day closures.
