AG Edge Highlights Economic Impact During Ag Week

National Agriculture Week in Western Kentucky could easily be called agriculture month.

It is always a pleasure to cover and participate in agriculture appreciation events in Trigg, Christian and surrounding counties during the month of March.  The celebration kicked off Thursday, March 7, when United Southern Bank took time to thank farmers and agriculture during their annual Ag Appreciation luncheon at the Pembroke Ruritan Gym.

Trigg County celebrated agriculture with the annual Ag Appreciation Dinner Tuesday, March 12.  After the presentation of awards, the crowd was entertained by christian comedian Aaron Wilburn.

Trigg Continued celebrating Thursday, March 14, at Hancock’s Neighborhood Market with Celebrity Bagger Day.

The Ag Edge took to the road to celebrate National Agriculture Week with a stop Monday, March 18 at Nutrien AG.

We also took a video tour of Nutrien Ag with Nutrien Ag Hopkinsville Manager Brian Fitzsimmons.

Tuesday, March 19, the day kicked off with the Salute to Agriculture Breakfast in Christian County at The Silo.  The featured speaker was Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles.  The breakfast ended with the auction of 4-H country ham basket.

Following breakfast, Commonwealth Agri Energy hosted the Ag Edge and several 4-H and FFA members for the annual Radio Tour on 106.5 WKDZ-FM.

The Ag Edge made stops Wednesday,  March 20 at Pro Tank and Equipment to visit Kyle and Adam Barbee and Tyler about the services provided by the agribusiness.

The Ag Edge finished the day with a stop at Ag Quest to talk with Jerry Gilliam, Heather Fitzsimmons and Stephanie McAtee about the services they provide farmers with financing and insurance protection.

March is always a favorite month when we can highlight the work of farmers and agriculture in Western Kentucky.  Thank our farmers for what they do each and every day.
