Hospital Encouraging Welfare Check Of Seniors This Weekend

Jennie Stuart Health is encouraging the community to check on their parents, grandparents, and other aging family members to make sure they are doing well this weekend.

Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Services Lisa Grise says Sunday is known as National Parents Day.

She adds it’s a great opportunity to check with them and see if they have any needs and ask them some questions.

In December, the hospital opened the Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit, which helps with seniors battling mental health issues. Grise notes the facility is a 12-bed unit for patients 65 years old and above but adds they can take patients as young as 55 years old if they are leading a geriatric lifestyle.
