Democratic Candidates Take Part In Christian County Picnic

A small crowd was on hand to hear from three candidates for statewide races Saturday afternoon as the Christian County Democratic Executive Committee hosted a picnic at Peace Park.

Among a few of the issues discussed were education, the opioid epidemic, and legalizing medical marijuana.

Current Attorney General and candidate for governor, Andy Beshear believes he will win the November General Election because too many Kentuckians feel left out or left behind.

Attorney General candidate Greg Stumbo notes he wants to continue the work Beshear has done in combating the opioid epidemic.

Stumbo held the office of Kentucky Attorney General from 2004 to 2008 and has also served as Majority Floor Leader and Speaker of the House in the Kentucky House of Representatives.

Robert Conway, Agriculture Commissioner candidate wants to legalize medical marijuana, something he says his opponent does not want.

Secretary of State candidate Heather French Henry was slated to appear at the event but was unable to attend.

Beshear is running against Republican incumbent Matt Bevin, Stumbo against Republican candidate Daniel Cameron, and Conway against Republican incumbent Ryan Quarles.
