UK Grain And Forage Center In Princeton Officially Opens

Local, state, and agriculture officials from across the Commonwealth gathered at the newly opened Grain and Forage Center of Excellence at the UK Research and Education Center in Princeton for a ribbon cutting Thursday.

University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto stated that those gathered have a responsibility to ask themselves daily what is wildly possible and remembered the legacy spoken of during the ground breaking in April 2018.

Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Ag Policy Warren Beeler added that the Center would have an important impact on the future of production within the state and even the world over.

UK Dean of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment Nancy Cox expressed that the Center would excel in user-inspired science.

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles noted that the Center is yet another important scientific advancement, one that would lead us to discover more about the ground beneath our feet.

Ray Allen Mackey, with the Kentucky Corn Growers Association, stated the research and created practices brought by the Center would leave a lasting impact on generations to come.

Director of the Center Dr. Chad Lee, Kentucky Senator Paul Hornback, and Representative Richard Heath also spoke at the ribbon cutting, expressing their excitement, optimism, and gratitude for the Center and all it will do for the future of agriculture within the state, the nation, and the world.

On display outside the Grain and Forage Center of Excellence is the original no-till planter.  The planter was built with the help of Planter’s Hardware in Hopkinsville, Christian County farmer Harry Young and others.
