A Hopkinsville woman is facing theft and other charges after police say she stole items from the same store two times on Wednesday.

Hopkinsville Police report they received two shoplifting complaints from Walmart on Clinic Drive in which 22-year old Courtney Lane pushed out a shopping cart without paying for cases of beer and steaks around 7:45 a.m. Police say they received another shoplifting complaint later in the morning that Lane had again stolen similar merchandise from the same Walmart and then got into a vehicle and left the parking lot. Officers pulled the vehicle over on East 9th Street and determined Lane also had three warrants for her arrest. Officers also observed Lane removing something from her pants, which she later reportedly stated was a pipe that she stuffed in the backseat of the police cruiser.

Lane was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking or shoplifting under $500, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police report Lane was also wanted on three warrants — Contempt of Court for flagrant non-support, second degree escape for being furloughed from jail to pay child support and arrears, and failure to appear on underlying charges of third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police and possession of drug paraphernalia.
