Protesters Asking For Boling’s Resignation

Protesting, a right for citizens under the First Amendment in the United States Constitution was utilized Monday afternoon in downtown Hopkinsville.

A protest, formed by Trigg County resident Tammy Mason, is calling for the resignation of Christian County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling after a letter he sent to former Governor Matt Bevin in support of the commutation of Dayton Jones, of Hopkinsville.

She tells the News Edge after reading comments on social media that residents of Christian County may not have known how to go about doing it.

Mason adds if they are not successful, there is other action they will take.

At least three other Trigg County residents joined Mason and some Christian County residents in front of Boling’s office at 511 South Main Street in Hopkinsville.

Jones admitted in August 2016 his role in the brutal sexual assault of a 15-year old male at a party at a residence on Lafayette Road in 2014. With Jones’ plea, he was sentenced to 15-years in prison, but it was commuted by Bevin before he left office in December 2019.

As we have previously reported, Boling states the letter was a ‘monumental mistake’ and was writing it on behalf of Jones’ grandparents to express their thoughts and feelings and not his own.
