Grand Jury Returns Assault And Robbery Indictments

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday including for assault, robbery, and wanton endangerment.

Christopher Daniel

23-year old Christopher De’Shawn Daniel of Crofton was indicted on second-degree robbery and second-degree assault offenses in connection to a disturbance with another man at a home on Old Madisonville Road in the early morning hours of January 18. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports Daniel hit the man with a baseball bat twice — once in the head. Daniel then allegedly took the man’s wallet and car keys and left in the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was found parked on Honeysuckle Drive along with the victim’s wallet and keys. Over $100 was reported missing from the wallet. Daniel was arrested on the morning of January 21st when he was found by police on Glass Avenue wearing only socks. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Jacorie Buckner and John Buckner

The grand jury indicted 27-year old Jacorie Buckner and his father, 55-year old John Buckner, both of Hopkinsville, for second-degree assault after deputies reported the two men got into an argument over a car radio at a home no Butler Road on January 3. According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the father, John, pulled out a machete and cut his son on his upper arm and the side of his neck, while the father stated Jacorie hit him in the face and pulled a machete on him and cut him on the back of the head. Deputies said both men suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment. They were arrested and booked into the Christian County Jail.

Devonte George

27-year old Devante George of Hopkinsville was indicted for first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence. The charges stem from November 1, 2019, when Hopkinsville Police reported George was handling his rifle in a manner that caused it to discharge twice hitting him in the thigh along with going through the floor, into another apartment and striking the bed of a child that was sleeping. Police indicate George is a convicted felon from Christian Circuit Court.

The grand jury also returned a no true bill for a second-degree burglary charge lodged against Damarion Watson after it was determined there was not enough evidence to prosecute him.
