The Pennyroyal Arts Council received a grant last week on Arts Day in Kentucky, an annual celebration of the state’s arts community and the vital roles it plays in the commonwealth’s livelihood.

Eighth District state Representative Walker Thomas presented the $11,036 check, as part of a Kentucky Arts Partnership grant awarded by the arts council in July 2019. The funding awarded is part of $1.2 million the arts council awarded to 93 nonprofit arts organizations across Kentucky for the 2020 fiscal year.

Pennyroyal Arts Council Executive Director Margaret Prim says they rely on operational support from their partners at Kentucky Arts Council. She notes their mission on the local level is to make the Arts accessible to everyone in the community.

In addition to presenting grants on Arts Day in Kentucky last Friday, officials say it was also a day that provided arts leaders a chance to thank members of the Kentucky General Assembly for their continued support of funding arts through the Kentucky Arts Council.

The Pennyroyal Arts Council was established in 1977 to encourage, develop and promote the appreciation of the Arts through education, support, service and presentation.
