Governor Beshear Asking Daycares To Close Friday Afternoon

During a Monday evening update, Governor Andy Beshear recommended childcare centers to close by the end of the week and announced the primary election has been postponed.

Governor Beshear says he is asking for daycares to close by the end of business Friday.

Governor Beshear did not specify a length for the closure for daycare centers.

In addition, Beshear announced the statewide primary election will be postponed until June 23.

Secretary of State Michael Adams says the recommendation to postpone the election came from county clerks on both sides of the political aisle.

Governor Beshear also announced they are providing a three-month extension to residents whose driver’s license is expiring.

He adds by the end of business tomorrow, all state offices will close to in-person traffic.

As of 5:00 Monday evening, Kentucky had 22 cases of COVID-19, with the latest case coming from a 34-year old female from Jefferson County.
