Christian County Announces First Deaths Due To COVID-19

UPDATE (3:15pm) — The Christian County Health Department has confirmed a third death due to the COVID-19 virus.  Spokesperson Amanda Sweeney reported the death of a 76-year-old male with underlying health conditions Wednesday afternoon.  She said Christian County has 38 active COVID-19 cases with 12 others recovered for a total of 50 cases.

The Christian County Health Department has confirmed the first two COVID-19 related deaths.

Spokesperson Amanda Sweeney reports the first death was an 86-year old male and the second involved an 86-year old female. Both had various underlying health conditions.

She adds they send their condolences to the family during this difficult time and to honor their memory they ask the community to display green lights or signs in their facility or home to show compassion for their loss.

Christian County currently has 36 active cases and over the course of the pandemic, they have seen a total of 49 cases. Sweeney says they are in daily contact with active cases and have been in communication with anyone who may have been in direct contact to monitor their symptoms.
