City Of Hopkinsville Announces Reopening Plan

The City of Hopkinsville released its plan Tuesday on reopening government and city facilities.

The Municipal Center will allow employees, including Community Development Services to return to work Monday on a limited basis with telework continuing. Beginning June 1, guests will be allowed inside by appointment only; all guests will be escorted, required to wear masks, and temperature checks of guests may be required. Tax and revenue drive-thru window will also open for day-to-day activities on June 1. The city hopes to open to all in-person guests on July 6.

The Hopkinsville Police Department is currently allowing visitors via the Main Street entrance, but will not be conducting facility tours, ride-a-longs, and other community activities until further notice. Additionally, all Hopkinsville Fire Departments will not open to the public until further notice.

Hopkinsville Public Works will open cemetery offices by appointment only on June 1 and the Public Works Office will be open at the front office only with social distancing and mask required by visitors.

The Human Rights Commission of Hopkinsville-Christian County will continue telework and seeing customers by appointment only until further notice.

Hopkinsville Electric System and Energynet and Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority employees will return to work on May 18. The HES office may open the lobby to limited foot traffic either May 26 or June 1, while HWEA plans to re-open their lobby June 1.

The Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise office will remain closed to the public until at least June.

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation facilities will reopen in three phases. The first phase set for June 1 will see green spaces and parking lots open to the public. Parks will also be opened for walking, exercising, and informal play. All pavilions will be open for reservations and events with guidelines. Disc Golf at the Trail of Tears and DeBow Complex, the Skatepark, and the Sportsplex will all reopen June 1, as well. The initial opening of the Sportsplex will only allow walking and using the open gym.

The second phase set for June 15 includes: opening playgrounds, Tie Breaker Athletic Complex for practice and local leagues, and open the Sportsplex for low impact sports (with government and Christian County Health Department approval).

The current third phase set for July 1 will open Tie Breaker Athletic Park for tournaments.
