Area extension agents give information on COVID-19 relief

Farmers can soon begin applying for assistance payments from the USDA as the result of agricultural losses caused by COVID-19 shutdowns.
Area Extension agents discussed the Coronavirus assistance becoming available for farmers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Graham Cofield from the Trigg county extension office stated The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program by the USDA operating through area Farm Service Agency offices

He added there are currently forms available on the coronavirus food assistance website however there may be more production records required.

Christian County ag extension agent Matt Futrell noted more information can be gathered at Farm Service Agency offices but an appointment must be set up by phone.

The program is not slated to begin until May 26, but he added there are a few ways farmers could get prepared.
