Evidence Review Continues Case Of Old Rocky Point Road Murder Suspect

Montie Streeval

Another pretrial conference date has been set for a Trigg County man charged in connection to the murder of a Powderly man on Old Rocky Point Road in August.

Montie Streeval and attorney Jason Pfeil appeared virtually before Circuit Court Judge C.A. Woodall Wednesday afternoon. Pfeil asked Judge Woodall for more time to go over the extensive evidence from the case.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins said there is even more evidence that will be sent out soon.

Judge Woodall set the next pretrial conference for Wednesday afternoon, March 10.

Kentucky State Police charged Streeval with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection to the death of Cameron Phillips. An autopsy revealed Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

State Police Detective David Dick said during a preliminary hearing, Streeval had picked up Phillips for an alleged drug deal and drove to Cadiz on July 28.

Phillips’ body was found in a wooded area near a cemetery on Old Rocky Point Road on August 6. Dick said Streeval was familiar with this area and had denied committing the crime.

Streeval remains lodged in the Christian County Jail.
