Officials with the Christian County Health Department announced two COVID-linked deaths Friday.

Spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said the county is now reporting 69 total deaths, with the new deaths involving a 67-year-old female and a 78-year-old male, both had underlying health conditions.

The department also confirmed 40 new COVID-19 cases, with the active case count dropping by 20 to 619. Christian County has seen 5,154 cases since the pandemic began.

Sweeney added the health department would be closed Monday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
