Long-Time Hopkinsville Kiwanis Member, ‘Warm the Children’ Founder Dies

A long-time member of the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club has passed away.

Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home announced Wednesday the death of 86-year-old William E. “Willie” Renshaw, Jr.

Renshaw was a member of the organization for 50 years and founded ‘Warm the Children’ in 1995. He described the program during a November 2018 meeting.

During his 50 years with the Kiwanis Club, he served as president of the local chapter and governor of the State of Kentucky Kiwanis Club. He was also a Legion of Honor from the Kiwanis Club and received a certificate of recognition for Outstanding Leadership and Contributions for the ‘Warm the Children’ campaign.

Renshaw spent most of his working career at the Kentucky New Era as Director of Advertising and Marketing. He was also a founding member of Milbrooke Christian Church and a member of the local Masonic Lodge. He was also a volunteer for the local Salvation Army.
