HCC Foundation Board Elects New Board Members

The Hopkinsville Community College Foundation Board met virtually for its quarterly meeting and elected new directors and honored the service of those directors whose terms are set to expire June 30.

The college reports newly elected directors are: Jim Adams, Sharon Butts, Lincoln Foster, Eston Glover III, Idalia Luna, Sara Shepherd, and Frank Thomas III. The new directors will serve from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024.

Adams is a retired judge after serving 25 years as district judge, while Butts serves as the Associate Director for the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council. Foster works for his father’s law firm, Foster, Soyars & Associates and serves as a part-time Assistant County Attorney. Glover has worked the last 23 years at Hopkinsville Elevator Comapny, Inc.

In addition, Luna is currently the Executive Director of Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission, while Shepherd is the owner of Burdoc Farms and hosts a podcast on wedding planning. Thomas is the President/CEO of Med Transit and the founder and President of Hatch Industrial Solutions, LLC.

HCC Foundation Executive Director Yvette Eastham also thanked directors rotating off the board after many years of service. They included: David Collins, Mike Foster, Jerry Gilliam, Jo Glover, Beth Mann, Art Pendleton, Greg Pryor, and Matt Workman.

The college added Eastham is completing her 13th year of service as chief institutional advancement officer for Hopkinsville Community College. Assets of the college’s foundation have grown in that time from $267,388.37 in July of 2008 to $6,927,417.10 as of May 2021. The income from investments primarily fund scholarship opportunities.

Eastham said the foundation board had worked diligently to provide opportunities for students and their families in terms of scholarships and raise the support for the Emerging Technologies Building, Pathfinder Pantry, the Student Emergency Fund, and more.

In other business, the HCC Foundation re-elected Nancy Bullard president and Scott Hancock as secretary/treasurer. In addition, Dr. Kevin Felton, a retired HCC faculty member, was elected as vice-president of the board.

The HCC Foundation will host the 31st Annual Mike Foster Golf Scramble on Friday, October 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club and is bringing back its annual Gala and Auction on Thursday, November 4 in a location to be announced.
