Rain Misses 20th Hopkinsville Turkey Trot; Another Run Planned For Saturday

A break in the Thanksgiving morning weather allowed runners and walkers a chance to compete in the 20th annual Hopkinsville Turkey Trot sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman says the weather cooperated just enough for Thursday morning’s race along the Hopkinsville Greenway.

Brockman says the annual event is something both the serious and the casual runner can participate in while also using it as a social event to see people they normally don’t during the year.

Brockman says they will be having another run Saturday morning for those who either couldn’t make Thursday’s trot or for those who need to shed some extra Thanksgiving pounds.

The 20th annual event marked a return to normality after the 2019 turkey trot was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
