Human Relations Commission Hosting Hopkinsville King Day Events

The Hopkinsville Human Relations Commission is hosting the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day events focused around the theme of “It Starts With Me”

Idalia Luna with the Human Relations Commission says the march will begin at 8:00 at the Hopkinsville Community College auditorium building parking lot. The march will be led by drum lines from Hopkinsville and Christian County High Schools. From HCC the march will proceed along Talbert Drive, South Elm Street, turn right on Glass Avenue and conclude at the Christian County Middle School Performing Arts Center.

State Farm Agent and Christian County School Board Chairman Tom Bell is issuing a school challenge to all students in Christian County. The school with the most students will earn the traveling trophy.

The featured speaker for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day events will be Jennie Stuart Medical Group General Surgeon Dr. David W. Kabithe. He and his family attend Virginia Street Baptist Church.

The Human Relations Commission invites the entire community to be part of the march and ceremony.
