Hopkinsville Native Hired As NKU Director Of Research, Grants And Contracts

A Hopkinsville native has been hired as the new director of the Office of Research, Grants and Contracts at Northern Kentucky University.

University officials announced Thursday in a news release that Craig Holloman was selected for the position. He will also serve as executive director of the NKU Research Foundation Board.

The release said Holloman joins NKU from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he served for 10 years as a research administrator within the College of Engineering. While there, officials said he spearheaded the development of its Engineering Research Office and oversaw an annual portfolio of approximately $20 million in research funding.

NKU officials said Holloman is a native of Hopkinsville and previously served 12 years through the Pennyrile Area Development District and the West Kentucky Workforce Board in administering workforce training programs and assisting economic development initiatives funded through the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the U.S. Department of Labor. Holloman received a bachelor’s degree with a major in business administration from Murray State University, a master’s degree in interdisciplinary administration from Western Kentucky University, and a Master of Business Administration and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Nevada, Reno.

NKU was founded in 1968 and is an entrepreneurial state university of over 16,000 students and more than 2,000 faculty and staff on the campus located in Highland Heights.
