A Christian County woman charged with a 2006 murder on Greenville Road was scheduled to be arraigned in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday, but Judge Andrew Self put that off so that she could employ an attorney.

55-year-old Regina Vause was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department last week and charged with murder and first-degree robbery in connection to the death of 84-year-old Roscoe Mayes, who police said died of blunt force trauma at his Greenville Road home in August 2006.

Vause told Judge Self she was looking to hire an attorney to represent her with Judge Self delaying the arraignment to give her more time to find one.

A second person was arrested Wednesday morning in Sturgis in connection to the same case. The Union County Sheriff’s Department arrested Lashanda Bell, also known as Lashanda Person, at a residence on KY 109 in Sturgis. She was lodged in the Webster County Jail where she will be transported to Christian County to face murder and first-degree robbery charges.

Public Information Officer Chris Miller says the investigation into the cold case is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
