Edge Media Group Named Finalists in Five KBA Excellence Categories

The Edge Media Group was well-represented when the Kentucky Broadcasters Association released its finalists for the 2022 Excellence in Broadcasting Awards on Friday.

WPKY was named a finalist in two categories, including station of the year. WEKU Radio in Richmond is also up for the station of the year award.

WPKY also was named a finalist for Best Locally Produced Commercial for ‘Holiday Hills Friday.’ It’s the second consecutive year WPKY has been named a finalist in that category.

YourSportsEdge.com was named a finalist for Best Digital Product for the fourth consecutive year, having won two times.

The News Edge news department was named a finalist for Best News Coverage for its extensive coverage of the First United Methodist Church Daycare Abuse case that is still pending in Christian County Circuit Court.

The News Edge’s Ed Marlowe was also named a finalist for KBA Rookie of the Year given to a broadcaster who has demonstrated the ability to contribute on the air in their first full year of broadcasting. Marlowe has provided a variety of coverage since joining the Edge Media Group in June of 2021 including local government stories, coverage of the December tornadoes, and visits by the governor and President of the United States.

The winners will be announced during the KBA’s annual conference in Owensboro on September 26.
