Name Released In Greenville Road Pursuit

Deputies have released the name of a man that was charged with fleeing from law enforcement after a short pursuit on Greenville Road in Christian County Thursday morning.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop a motorcycle on Greenville Road near the Dino Mart when the driver 37-year-old Donald Merritt fled at speeds of 70 mph.

Merritt laid the motorcycle down around the area of Rozelle Drive and continued to flee on foot the foot pursuit came to a stop on Grimes Avenue where he was taken into custody.

He is charged with speeding, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), tampering with physical evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of cocaine.
