Trial Date Set In North McPherson Avenue Murder Case

A trial date was set Wednesday morning for a Hopkinsville man charged with murder after a man’s body was found inside a home on North McPherson Avenue in March of this year.

Lance Bowden was indicted by a Christian County grand jury on April 29th in connection to the death of 31-year old John Kellems of Beaver Dam.

Bowden’s public defender Eric Bearden and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling appeared before Judge John Atkins and a trial date was set for February 20th, 2023. Bearden informed the judge they need a pretrial conference set before the hearing regarding Bowden’s psychiatric records.

click to download audioOn March 13th of this year, a woman called Hopkinsville Police for a person that was possibly deceased inside her home just before 10:00 that night. Kellems was found inside the woman’s home on North McPherson Avenue and pronounced dead by the Christian County Coroner’s Office. Bowden is accused of using a knife to cut Kellem’s throat.
