GOOD NEWS – Trenton Firefighter Named Kentucky Colonel For Heroic Actions

A Trenton volunteer firefighter was honored Wednesday, after attempting life-saving actions before an explosion at Quick Turn Anodizing in January.

The Guthrie Police Department honored Benn Andrew Stahl with an Award of Valor. He was also presented a Kentucky Colonel certification from Governor Andy Beshear’s office.

Both came for his heroic actions on the day of the explosion. The police department said Stahl placed himself in danger to render aid when he did not have to and was injured when the explosion occurred.

He suffered second and third-degree burns to his face and upper chest, as well as, serious chemical burns to his mouth, eyes, and esophagus.

Bryan Bonilla, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was killed as a result of the explosion, while Alex Wix, of Westmoreland, Tennessee, died from his sustained injuries days later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Two others were injured as a result of the explosion.
