Students Select Killebrew, Self To Speak At 2023 CCPS Commencements

Officials with Christian County Public Schools have announced the speakers for the highly-anticipated Class of 2023 graduations and commencements planned for Christian County and Hopkinsville.

Vice Killebrew will deliver the commencement address for the Colonels, while Judge Andrew Self will speak to the Tigers.

Graduation ceremonies for both schools will take place this Friday at Stadium of Champions, with CCHS planned for 5 PM, and HHS at 8:30 PM.

A 1993 graduate of CCHS, Killebrew is also a graduate of the Andersonville Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity degree. He and wife, Beverly, have been married almost 26 years. They have five children and nine grandchildren.

He serves as the equity coordinator for Christian County Schools, where he has the opportunity to mentor young men at schools across the district. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Challenge House and Men2Be Inc. For the past 13 years, Killebrew has served as the senior pastor of the McCarroll Hill Baptist Church.

A 1981 graduate of Hopkinsville High School, Self went on to attend Centre College where he graduated in 1985 and then later graduated the UK College of Law in 1988.

He currently serves as a circuit judge, a position he has held for the past 17 years. In the 18 years prior to judge, he practiced law.

Self and his wife, Eva, have been married 32 years, and two daughters are both graduates of HHS.

For the past nine years, Self could be found on the sidelines Friday nights, where he served as an assistant coach for the Tigers. He retired from football this past January.

Killebrew and Self were chosen by the respective school’s student body as the speaker for their commencement ceremony. A live stream of both ceremonies will be available on the district website and Facebook page.
