Funeral services for Marie Mitchell, 82, of Cadiz will be held Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. at King’s Funeral Home with Rev. Don Beverly and Rev. Gary Heath officiating. Burial will follow in Little River Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the funeral home.
Marie Mitchell was born on October 13, 1943, in Cadiz, the daughter of the late Clifton Choate and Mary Helen Huddleston Choate.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Francis Mitchell; daughter, Margie Mitchell; sisters, Hattie Choate Jones, Mary Elizabeth Choate, and Mildred Ann Choate Futrell; brothers, Robert Lee Choate, Joel Ben Choate, Lloyd Choate, Clifford Choate, and Howard Choate; and two brothers who died in infancy.
She passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at her home.
Mitchell was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She worked briefly at the Trigg Knit Hosiery Mill and later devoted her life to homemaking and babysitting.
Her family said she enjoyed gardening, tending flowers, and caring for her family. They added that the love of her life was her husband and children.
Survivors include her son, Larry Mitchell, and wife Rachel of Cadiz, and her sister, Nell King Radford of Hopkinsville.
King’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
