A Nashville woman faces multiple charges after Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies stopped her vehicle on I-24 Tuesday night for reckless driving and allegedly discovered marijuana, meth, and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday to the 58-mile marker eastbound on I-24 after receiving reports of a reckless driver traveling at a high rate of speed.
Deputy Louis Armstrong located the vehicle near the Cadiz exit and observed it repeatedly crossing the center line before conducting a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as 24-year-old Abreshia Lackey of Nashville.
According to the arrest citation, deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle while speaking with Lackey. Investigators also determined her driver’s license was suspended and she did not have proof of insurance because the vehicle did not belong to her.
While taking Lackey into custody, deputies said she removed a bag of marijuana from her pants before a search of the vehicle uncovered a digital scale and marijuana smoking paraphernalia. Deputies also found a black backpack containing a blue storage bag and a gray storage bag, which reportedly held approximately eight ounces of suspected methamphetamine.
Sheriff Aaron Acree called it one of the largest meth seizures on a traffic stop by his agency.
Lackey was charged with DUI; possession of marijuana and paraphernalia; first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance; reckless driving; operating on a suspended license; and having no insurance.
