William E. Haslett, 88, of Cadiz, died at 3:48 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Bro. Russ Stallons officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow in Ancestral Haven Memorial Gardens. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Avena Township, Illinois, he was born December 20, 1937, the son of the late Robert Henry Haslett and Maude Faye Hobson Haslett. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant. William started a career in teaching and coaching after his military career. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Gracey West Union Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mona Gail Haslett; his second wife, Jonez Haslett; and 15 other siblings.
Survivors include his children: Gregory “Blane” (Christine) Haslett of Cadiz, KY, Dana L. (Sharon) Haslett of Beechmont, KY, Shane (Renee) Haslett of Greenville, KY, Rick Tapley of Plantersville, MS and Michael (Angie) Tapley of Senatobia, MS; and his brothers: Donald (Kathy) Haslett of Vernon, CO and Joseph (Jamie) Haslett of Springfield, MO; and his sister: Twila (Paul) Presnell of Nokomis, IL; and his grandchildren: Tara, Sharis, Dane, Caleb, Leah, Trent, Connor and Savannah; and his 11 great grandchildren.
