Steven Sanders – Historical Fiction of Land Between the Lakes

Trigg County’s own, Steven Sanders, will be in town visiting from his home in Georgia and has agreed to talk to us about writing historical fiction.

He’ll talk about his first novel, War Wolves, which is currently being shopped to publishers. Then he will talk about the book he is working on now, The Land Between the Lakes. It’s the story of how the government took over between the rivers to create the park, told from the point of view of the people who lived there and were forced out.

Since it’s set in the 1960s and told from the point of view of two teenagers from Golden Pond, the story will also tell of the desegregation of Trigg County Schools, coming of age in the 1960s, and elements of courtroom drama. He will also speak about all the help he’s received from people like Jim Wallace, Donnie Holland, David Nickel, Katie Broadbent, and many others.
