Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Alerting Residents Of Scam

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a recent scam circulating throughout the county.

Public Information Officer Sandra Brandon reports criminals are calling residents claiming to be Lieutenant William Wall and providing a fake four digit badge number. The criminals reportedly say you have missed jury duty, have a warrant out for your arrest, or that you have won a prize. Brandon adds they then instruct you to purchase a Green Dot, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, or any other type of prepaid gift cards and give them the number in order to not be arrested or to claim your prize.

Brandon stresses the sheriff’s office does not call citizens and demand payment or threaten to arrest them.
