A Hopkinsville woman charged in connection to a fatal shooting on Greenville Road in June appeared in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning for a motion to reduce her bond.

19-year old Anshanique Leavell is charged with murder, receiving stolen property (firearm), and complicity to tampering with physical evidence. She is accused of shooting Amareya Freeman at an apartment complex on June 6.

During the hearing, Leavell’s defense attorney, Michael Thompson, stated she is not a flight risk.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling argued Leavell’s bond should not be reduced due to the severity of the crime.

Judge John Atkins then denied the motion.

Leavell will be back in court for a pretrial conference set for the morning of October 16 at 8:30.
