Hopkinsville Couple Found With Meth, Woman Charged With Child Abuse

A Hopkinsville couple was charged with possession of meth after a shoplifting investigation on East 9th Street Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the Family Dollar for a report of shoplifting and found 19-year-old William Schultz Jr. and 27-year-old Sherri Schultz with a large bag containing items that they had not purchased.

Sherri Schultz reportedly told police the items were from Walmart but they had Family Dollar stickers on them. After a search of the bag police allegedly found syringes, cut straws, spoons, and meth.

Sherri Schultz reportedly told police she was pregnant and due in April and had just gotten her daughter back.

Police say Sherri Schultz decision to use meth put her unborn son in an extremely deadly situation. They were both charged with possession of meth and Sherri Schultz was also charged with second-degree criminal abuse and public intoxication.
