The first-ever “Summer Fun Series” continues in Guthrie this Friday at 5 p.m., with the Kite Festival set to fill the skies from Covington Park on U.S. 41 just west of downtown.

Aimed at encouraging tourism and commerce, while promoting local organizations and their events, Todd County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tiffany Groves says the hope is for everyone to jump in, grab some dinner afterward, and then stick around for Guthrie Main Street’s kickoff of its weekly summer series “Music in the Park” with popular local band “Country Twang.”

The Friday evening forecast in Guthrie doesn’t look ideal — 81 degrees and an 80% chance of rain — but Groves added the event will be rescheduled for later in the summer if it’s necessary.
