Trigg County Historical Society Museum Ribbon-Cutting Friday

The Trigg County Historical Society will host a ribbon-cutting Friday for their new museum in downtown Cadiz.

Jim Wallace, a member of the group, tells the News Edge the building they are now occupants of was constructed in 1854. Wallace adds about six years ago, they received a grant from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to renovate the former Cadiz Masonic Lodge.

Among the things that have occurred for transportation in Trigg County include expanding the four-lane U.S. 68 and the two new bridges over Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley on U.S. 68 and road work being done on Interstate 24.

The new museum will also feature an exhibit on Between the Rivers and Golden Pond, which used to be where the Land Between the Lakes area is now. Jo Ann Harvey, another member of the historical society, says they did a similar exhibit back in 2012.

Harvey adds a new addition that will showcase life in the area before the residents were forced to move and rising water levels wiped out the community.

The ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated Trigg County Historical Society Museum will take place at 10:00 Friday morning. The museum is located directly behind the Trigg County Justice Center on Jefferson Street.
