A man was charged with assaulting a police officer and public intoxication on East 9th Street in Hopkinsville Thursday night.
Hopkinsville Police say 34-year-old Miles Smith was found lying on the side of the road near the intersection of South Campbell Street.
He reportedly had problems speaking and was unsteady on his feet. As he was getting into the police cruiser he allegedly head-butted the officer.
He is charged with third-degree assault and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
