One young woman’s life is about to change.
Set for Sunday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Hopkinsville’s Alhambra Theatre, 10 participants will be taking part in the 2022 Distinguished Young Women of Christian County Scholarship Program — showcasing overall talent, fitness, scholastics, interview skills and self-expression.
The 10 selected includes Riley Harper, Piper Hancock and Alison Craig from University Heights Academy; ShaNiah Bridges, Rachel Baker, Aly Adler, Rosa Galvan and Shadey Knight from Christian County; and Destiny Fields and Koryn Hicks of Hopkinsville.
Participants will be competing for approximately $4,000 in cash scholarships, with one winner being selected as the 2022 “Distinguished Young Woman of Christian County” — who will represent the area in the “Distinguished Young Woman of Kentucky” set for January of next year.
A winner at the state level will then represent the Commonwealth on the national stage in June 2022, traveling to Mobile, Alabama to compete for the title of “Distinguished Young Woman of America” and a chance at more than $125,000 in cash scholarships and millions more in college scholarships.
The “Distinguished Young Women of Christian County” scholarship program serves as an official preliminary of the “Distinguished Young Women of America” — which is the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school senior females of its type.
Since 1958, the organization has awarded more than $90 million in cash and college-granted scholarships to colleges and universities nationwide.
