A family owned Hopkinsville wholesale and retail meat harvest company is under new ownership.
Hampton Meats owner Ernie Hampton and son Justyn recently sold the 46-year-old business to Chris Milam from Logan County.
Milam said he is looking forward to taking the wholesale and retail meat business to a new level, with the decision to purchase Hampton Meats coming as he and his partners were getting ready to break ground on a harvest facility in Logan County.
Milam says he plans to operate Hampton Meats with his sons.
Milam adds they plan to retain the Hampton name and heritage of the company that was started in 1975 by Ernie’s father E.G. “Uncle Bummy” Hampton.
He adds plans include an expansion of the harvest capacity and a new retail building.
Milam says they could start construction on the expanded cooler and new retail facility in 30 to 45 days.
