NWS Confirms Second Tornado Touched Down In Todd County Monday

The National Weather Service has confirmed a second tornado touched down in Todd County early Monday morning.

According to a storm survey team, an EF-0 tornado with peak winds of 85 mph touched down near Allensville at 4:40 a.m. and was on the ground for 4.1 miles with a maximum width of 75 yards. Surveyors reported the tornado caused roof or structural damage to several sheds from Old Railroad Lane to Allensville Road.

On Tuesday, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 90 mph touched down 7 minutes earlier, at 4:33 Monday morning, north of Elkton. The path of the tornado was 8.3 miles with a maximum width of 100 yards. Surveyors said the tornado touched down at the intersection of U.S. 68 at Tress Shop Road with the path ending in an area near the intersection of Pea Ridge-Sharon Grove Road and Goodman Road.

The National Weather Service and Todd County Emergency Management said the EF-1 tornado damaged or destroyed several older barns with minor roof damage to a few barns and houses. They also said many large trees were uprooted or snapped and two semi-trailers were flipped over.

There were no injuries reported.
