The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board announced Friday afternoon the approval of more than $2.4 million for an allotment of agricultural diversification and rural development projects across the Commonwealth.
In the “Meat Processing Investment Program,” which provides funding for meat processors seeking USDA certification and financial incentives for economic expansion, a Level 4 $250,000 grant has been bestowed to Logan Premium Meats in Christian County and Palmer Farm Meats in Calloway County.
In On-Farm Energy Efficiency, which provides incentives for farm families to improve their energy use through existing equipment and facilities, both Christian and Graves counties received $10,150.
In a written statement, Kentucky Agricultural Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles said investments like these “help keep [Kentucky’s] agricultural industry diversified and from awards totaling less than $2,000 to those up to $1,000,000, Kentucky agriculture continues to expand and mature through these funds.”
