Man Charged With Trafficking Drugs in Hopkinsville

A Lexington man was charged with trafficking drugs and wanton endangerment on Sivley Road in Hopkinsville Thursday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they were dispatched to the home after a woman called saying the father of her child 21-year-old Charron Mays would not leave and had a gun and drugs.

Law enforcement reportedly knew Mays from his involvement in a shooting in Lexington a few years ago and he was considered armed and dangerous.

Police say they found a loaded 9 mm handgun under an infant’s bed and a shaving cream can that the bottom had been removed and two bags of a powder substance suspected to be heroin were inside.

He reportedly told police he was holding the narcotics for a friend and it was not his.

Police say more narcotics were found in the baby’s diaper bag in the same room putting the child at risk of serious physical injury. Mays was arrested and charged with violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, trafficking heroin and fentanyl derivatives.
