U.S. Congressman James Comer advocated for the needs of the Land Between the Lakes Recreation Area in an Oversight Committee meeting held in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

Comer gave the committee a brief history and overview of LBL, which is comprised of 170,000 acres and is a significant destination in the 1st District for local residents and tourists. Unfortunately, he added, LBL has suffered from several deferred maintenance projects, chronic understaffing and a shortage of law enforcement to cover the recreational area with the issues being compounded by the LBL Advisory Board’s recent expired charter.
