With 11 weeks passed since the beginning of the Kentucky General Assembly 2022, time is of the essence before the regular session comes to a close.
Monday was its 52nd day, leaving eight more before it ends.
Third District State Senator Whitney Westerfield (R-Crofton) notes there’s still much to be done before the final gavel falls.
In the last week alone, Westerfield said the Senate addressed a litany of subjects: the rollout of electric motor vehicle charging stations, concerns with solar farms, bills to promote trade workers to allow various individuals without higher level of certifications to service HVAC and work in beauty salons.
One bill specifically garnered his interest.
Also this past week, legislators gaveled in at the old Kentucky state capitol — the third statehouse — as a touching reminder of the Commonwealth’s history.
