Three months after destructive tornadoes ran through west Kentucky, the Kentucky REALTORS organization still has $1.5 million available in relief funds — set aside for those who have been affected or displaced by the weather outbreak.
Through the support of the REALTOR Relief Fund, a program created by the National Association of REALTORS, applicants can have their hardships, worries and challenges eased with the offsetting of costs for basic housing.
With much of this money still not doled, applicants who qualify are set to receive up to $3,000 in financial relief. And those interested should begin the process at kyrealtors.com/relief to download the application.
Marshall County District 3 Commissioner Monti Collins said he was “hopeful” these funds will help give families one less thing to worry about, as “they work to rebuild their homes and lives.”
Prior to the December 2021 tornadoes, Kentucky REALTORS made several funds available to the Commonwealth surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and its layers — which included multiple businesses trimming rosters and payroll for the sake of profit.
Several families in southeastern Kentucky received REALTORS’ help during the spring of 2020, after being affected by torrential rains and rising floodwaters.
In the immediacy, Carlisle County had more than $16,000 distributed to applicants who were victims of flash-flooding.
